Two friends
The story begins with the fact that the author introduces us to the two main characters - Mishutka and Stasik. By the way, Nikolai Nikolayevich has exactly two friends in many stories, but more often it is Misha and Kolya. Why the second friend is called that way is not difficult to guess, especially since the narration in those works is in the first person. But in this story - "Dreamers" by Nosov, a brief summary of which will now be retold - the author observes what is happening as if from the side and narrates it in a third person.
So, the boys - Mishutka and Stasik - were talking while sitting on the bench. They fantasized with might and main, inventing interesting fables. As the author says, the guys seem to have started a competition, they began to compete in who will lie to whom.
Nikolai Nosov, "Dreamers" (summary). Start
Misha asked Stasik how old he was. The boy, without thinking twice, said that he was already 95. But Mishutka did not remain in debt either, he answered the interlocutor that he had already turned 140. Then the guys decided to impress with their height, having figured out how big they once were. Mikhail said that before he was very tall, like Uncle Borya, then he became small again, as he is now. Stasik was not inferior to his comrade in sharpness of mind. Of course, you can’t retell everything, we only convey a summary. N.N. Nosov's dreamers are witty and funny guys who can overcome boredom by inventing interesting tales.
Stasik retorted in response that, on the contrary, he was very small at first, and then grew large. But after that, he again turned into a small one, now he is waiting for it to become big. In the height competition, both were good. It was necessary to impress the interlocutor with something extraordinary. The whole story is devoted to these inventions, and, of course, its summary. Nosov's dreamers - Mishka and Stasik - decided to argue further: which of them could swim across what.
Mishutka said that when he was big, he calmly swam across the river, Stasik replied that he could generally swim the sea. Misha did not give up in this verbal dispute and said that he even swam across the ocean.
Flights to the Moon and beyond
The merry fantasies of the boys have come to the next stage. Since neither of them won the imaginary swimming competition, they decided to impress each other with their aerial movements. About this right now will be told further by the summary of Nosov's story. The dreamers were restless. It was Stasik's turn to strike down his friend, and he said that he used to be able to fly. Mikhail suggested to a friend that he demonstrate it right now. But he found what to answer: no, he can’t, because he forgot how.
Now it was Misha's turn to invent. He said that when he was swimming in the sea, he was attacked by a shark. She opened her mouth and bit off the boy's head. Stas was amazed and said that a friend was cheating. And he assured me no. Moreover, according to Mishutka, he climbed ashore and went home without a head, and then he grew another one.
Stasik envied his friend such clever writing and decided to come up with something similar. He told that when he was in Africa, he was swallowed by a crocodile, and then spat out.
Misha said that he somehow walked and crushed the bus, then he confessed that it was a toy. The comrade, in response, said that he generally flew to the moon in a rocket, but it was in a dream.
Igor's bad deed
During a conversation between two friends, their neighbor Igor sat down on their bench, it is about him that he will now tell a summary. Nosov's dreamers - Misha and Stas - were ingenuous guys, they composed fables so that both would have fun. Igor was completely different. After listening to the guys, he asked if they were not ashamed to lie. The guys said that there was nothing wrong with this, since they were not deceiving anyone, they were just composing.
Igor said that the boys were of no use to their ideas, and yesterday he deceived his parents and received a reward for this. The guys were surprised, and Igor continued. Yesterday he wanted jam, he climbed into the cupboard without asking, took out a jar and emptied it halfway. Having eaten enough, the guy realized: his parents would come and scold him. Then he scooped up jam with his finger and smeared it on the lips of his younger sister Ira, who was sleeping at that time.
When the parents came home, they asked: “Who ate the jam?” Igor pointed to his sleeping sister and said that she was. Mom believed because the girl's lips were stained with this sweetness. The mother punished her daughter, and gave her son more jam.

The boys were indignant, called Igor a liar, scolded him for the fact that an innocent person suffered because of him, and drove the deceiver away. The comrades said that Igor confessed everything to them. The guys offered Ira ice cream to somehow cheer up the girl. They made up that they didn’t want it, because they had already eaten 10 pieces.
Positive ending

Stasik and Mishutka are very fond of inventing all sorts of funny and fantastic stories. They have such a peculiar game: who will distort whom. But this is not a lie, not a lie that makes someone feel bad. The guys just tell each other different fairy tales, training their own imagination and developing speech. (For the reader's diary)
In their fantasies, the boys are over a hundred years old, they are big and strong. Stasik and Mishutka can swim across the seas and oceans, defeat an evil shark with one blow to the nose, and walk without a head. Their inventions are funny, kind and harmless. Children often add a truthful detail to a story that changes the whole picture. The bus crushed under foot was a toy. The flight to the moon took place at night and in a dream. And the eaten bucket of ice cream was small and paper. Everything changes when Igor, a neighbor boy, sits down next to the boys on the bench.
