The image of Danilushka in the fairy tale stone flower. Trilogy about Danila the Master

DANILA

DANILA - the hero of P.P. Bazhov's tale "The Stone Flower" (1938). This philosophical and poetic work is based on “secret tales” about Malachitnitsa, the Mistress of the Copper Mountain and her magical stone flower, borrowed from Ural folklore. The combination of the fantastic and the real, characteristic of the folk tale tradition, emphasizes the drama of the collision of reality and the ideal, everyday life and beauty. Danilka Nedokormysh was called "blessed". Neither in the master's Cossacks, nor in the undershepherds was he "not good", and then they sent him to be trained by the master Prokopich "in the malachite case." So he "grew at work" and became the best master in his field. But his work was not captivating: “There are many difficulties, but there is exactly no beauty at all.” D. thought up "to see the full power of the stone himself and show people." He remembered the story of the old sorceress Vihori-khi about the magical stone flower, which brings misfortune to the person who sees it, but also grants knowledge of the main essence of beauty. D. threw himself at the feet of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain: “Show me the flower!” She complied with that request, but D. “has become clouded” after he saw the flower, “his head was broken.” He left his bride, the named father of Prokopyich, “gasped like a boat” and disappeared: Malachitnitsa took him to the “mountain master”. The author tells about the further fate of D. in two other tales - "The Mining Master" (1939) and "The Fragile Branch" (1940), included in the book "Malachite Box". Interpretations of the image of the D.-master are traditionally associated with the problems of the spiritual life of the creator, the eternal search for truth and harmony, the impossibility of the ultimate comprehension of the mystery of beauty.

The tale was filmed in 1946 by director A. Ptushko; K.V. Molchanov’s opera “The Stone Flower” (1950), S.S. Prokofiev’s ballet “The Tale of the Stone Flower” (19SO) were created. In the party D. made his debut on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater VV Vasiliev (1959).

Pavel Petrovich Bazhov is a famous Russian and Soviet writer. He was born in 1879 in the family of a mining foreman. Mines and factories surrounded the future writer from childhood. His youth was associated with the partisan struggle for Soviet power in eastern Kazakhstan (Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semipalatinsk). In the early 1920s, the future writer returned to the Urals, where he began to write down local folklore. Bazhov became famous for his stories, the first of which was published in 1936.

Origins of the Malachite Box

Pavel Petrovich heard ancient Ural legends from the watchman Vasily Khmelinin. It happened at the end of the 19th century, the future writer was still a teenager. Narratives told about mining, the dangers that lay in wait for the miners, the beauty of the bowels and rare stones.

Ancient legends struck the young man's imagination. Thirty years later, he returned to his native places and began to write down the legends that the old people told. Based on the plot motifs of folklore legends, Bazhov created magnificent works. The writer called them Ural tales. Later they were released as a separate collection called "Malachite Box".

Main characters

Many children know the fairy tales "Mistress of the Copper Mountain", "Stone Flower", "Mining Master". These works are realistic. They describe in detail the life of the Ural mining workers. The images of Stepan, Nastasya, Danila the Master, Katya and other characters are developed with deep psychological authenticity. However, fantastic creatures also act in the stories:

  • Malachitnitsa, or the Mistress of the Copper Mountain.
  • Great Poloz.
  • Blue snake.
  • Earth cat.
  • Silver hoof.
  • Grandma Blue.
  • Jumping fireball.

The writer tries to convey not only the true life, but also the lively speech of his characters. The prototypes of the characters were people whom Bazhov had known since childhood. Many of them were considered legendary personalities of their time. Their names have immortalized folk legends.

Real characters

The prototype of the narrator Grandfather Slyshko is the watchman Vasily Khmelinin, who introduced the young Bazhov to the Ural legends. The writer knew the former factory worker very well. The watchman sprinkled his speech with the word "hear-to." Hence the nickname.

The prototype of the gentleman, who periodically came to the mines, was the famous businessman Alexei Turchaninov, who lived during the time of Empresses Elizabeth Petrovna and Catherine the Great. It was he who owned the idea of artistic processing of malachite, which Bazhov talks about in his works.

The famous Russian master Zverev became the prototype of Danila. He was a miner - the so-called specialists in the extraction of precious and semi-precious stones. Danila Zverev, like the literary character inspired by him, was distinguished by poor health. For thinness and small stature, he was called Lightweight. Danila the master Bazhov also has a nickname - Nedokormysh.

Mistress of the Copper Mountain

No less interesting are the fantastic characters of the Ural tales. One of them is the Mistress of the Copper Mountain. Under the appearance of a beautiful black-haired woman in a green dress with a malachite pattern, a powerful sorceress hides. She is the guardian of the Ural Mountains and mines. Malachite helps real professionals and creative people. She freed Stepan from the chains, presented his bride Nastya and daughter Tanya, taught Danila the secrets of craftsmanship.

The Mistress of the Copper Mountain takes care of her wards and protects them from evil people. She turned the cruel clerk Severyan into a block of stone. The powerful sorceress is also shown by the author as an ordinary woman - noble, loving and suffering. She becomes attached to Stepan, but lets him go to the bride.

Veliky Poloz, Babka Sinyushka and Fire-Rider

Bazhov's "Stone Flower" is filled with fantastic images. One of them is the Great Poloz. He is the owner of all the gold in the area. The image of a mighty serpent is in the myths and legends of many peoples. In the Ural tales, the daughters of the Great Poloz, the Copperhead, also appear.

Grandmother Sinyushka is a character with numerous origins. She is a "relative" of Baba Yaga from Slavic folklore. Sinyushka is a character standing on the verge of the real and otherworldly worlds. She appears before the human hero in two guises - as a young beauty and as an old woman in blue clothes. There is a similar character in the legends of the Mansi people, who inhabited the Urals in the old days. Grandmother Sinyushka is an important figure in local folklore. Its appearance is associated with swamp gas, which miners observed from afar. The mysterious blue haze awakened the imagination, causing the appearance of a new folklore character.

Bazhov's "Stone Flower" is associated with anthropomorphic fantastic images. One of them is the Leaping Fireball. This character looks like a cheerful little girl. She dances in the place where there are deposits of gold. The galloping fireball appears before the miners unexpectedly. Her dance delights those present. Researchers associate this image with the Golden Baba, an ancient Mansi deity.

Silver Hoof, Blue Snake, and Earthcat

In addition to fantastic heroes who have a human appearance, there are animal characters in the Ural tales. For example, the Silver Hoof. This is the name of one of Bazhov's fairy tales. The silver hoof is a magic goat. He knocks gems out of the ground. He has one silver hoof. With it, he beats the ground, from which emeralds and rubies jump out.

"The Stone Flower" by Bazhov is one of the stories in the collection "Malachite Box". Parents often read the fairy tale "The Blue Snake" to their children. At its center is a fantastic character, capable of both bestowing a gift on a good person and punishing a villain. The Blue Snake has gold dust on one side and black dust on the other. Where a person ends up, so will his life go. A blue snake with gold dust marks a deposit of a precious metal that is close to the surface.

Another fantastic character of the Ural tales is the Earth cat. It is connected with the ancient Slavic legend about secret treasures. The cat guarded them. In Bazhov, this character helps the girl Dunyakha find her way. The cat walks underground. Only her glowing ears are seen by people above the surface. The real prototype of the image are sulfur dioxide emissions. They often take the form of a triangle. The sparkling sulphurous gas reminded the prospectors of cat's ears.

Rooted in their native land

"Stone Flower" Bazhov is included in the collection "Malachite Box", published in 1939. This is a story adapted for children's perception. The collection includes the best works of the writer. The characters of many fairy tales are related. For example, Tanya from The Malachite Box is the daughter of Stepan and Nastya (the heroes of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain). And the character of the “Fragile Twig” Mityunka is the son of Danila and Katya (“Stone Flower”, “Mining Master”). It is easy to imagine that all the heroes of the Ural tales are neighbors living in the same village. However, their prototypes are clearly from different eras.

"Stone Flower" is a unique work. His characters are so colorful that they have become objects of creative processing more than once. They have beauty and truth. The heroes of Bazhov are simple, sincere people who keep in touch with their native land. In the Ural tales there are signs of a particular historical era. This is manifested in the description of household utensils, dishes, as well as methods of stone processing, typical for a particular time. The readers are also attracted by the colorful speech of the characters, interspersed with characteristic words and affectionate nicknames.

Creativity and beauty

"Stone Flower" is not only a storehouse of folk characters and bright fantastic images. The heroes of the Ural tales are generous and noble people. Their intentions are pure. And for this, as always happens in fairy tales, they receive a reward - wealth, family happiness and the respect of others.

Many of Bazhov's positive heroes are creative people. They know how to appreciate beauty and strive for perfection. A striking example is Danila the Master. His admiration for the beauty of the stone led to an attempt to create a work of art - a bowl in the shape of a flower. But the master was dissatisfied with his work. After all, there was no miracle of God's creation in it - a real flower, from which the heart stops and aspires upward. In search of perfection, Danila went to the Mistress of the Copper Mountain.

P. P. Bazhov talks about this. The "Stone Flower", a summary of which schoolchildren need to know, has become the basis for a creative understanding of labor. But Danila is ready to forget his skill, to which he made many sacrifices, for the sake of happiness with his beloved Katya.

An experienced craftsman and his young apprentice

The tale "Stone Flower" begins with a description of the old master Prokopych. A great expert in his field, he turned out to be a bad teacher. The boys, who, on the orders of the master, were brought to Prokopich by the clerk, were beaten and punished by the master. But the result could not be achieved. Perhaps he didn't want to. The writer is silent about the reasons for this. Prokopyich returned the next student to the clerk. All the boys, according to the old master, were unable to comprehend the craft.

P. P. Bazhov writes about the intricacies of working with malachite. "Stone Flower", a summary of which is presented in the article, is directly related to the intricacies of stone-cutting work. This craft was considered unhealthy by the people because of the malachite dust.

And so they brought Danilka Nedokormysh to Prokopyich. He was a prominent boy. Tall and good looking. Yes, but very thin. That's why they called him the Underdog. Danila was an orphan. First, he was assigned to the lord's quarters. But a servant did not come out of Danila. He often stared at beautiful things - paintings or jewelry. And as if he did not hear the master's orders. Due to poor health, he did not become a miner either.

The hero of Bazhov's tale "Stone Flower" Danila was distinguished by a strange feature. He could look at some object for a long time, for example, a blade of grass. He also had a lot of patience. The clerk noticed this when the guy silently endured the blows of the whip. Therefore, Danilka was sent to study with Prokopych.

Young master and the pursuit of excellence

The boy's talent showed up immediately. The old master became attached to the boy, treated him like a son. Over time, Danila got stronger, became strong and healthy. Prokopyich taught him everything he knew how to do.

Pavel Bazhov, The Stone Flower and its contents are well known in Russia. The turning point in the story comes at the moment when Danila finished his studies and became a real master. He lived in prosperity and peace, but he did not feel happy. Everyone wanted to reflect the real beauty of the stone in the product. Once an old malachite told Danil about a flower that is in the garden of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain. Since then, the guy had no peace, even the love of Katya's bride did not please. So he wanted to see a flower.

Once Danila was looking for a suitable stone in the mine. And suddenly the Mistress of the Copper Mountain appeared to him. Began to ask her boyfriend to show a wonderful stone flower. She didn't want to give up. When Danila saw beautiful stone trees in a magical garden, he realized that he was unable to create anything like this. The master is sad. And then he completely left home on the eve of the wedding. Couldn't find him.

What happened next?

Bazhov's story "The Stone Flower" ends with an open ending. Nobody knew what happened to the guy. We find the continuation of the story in the story "The Mining Master". Danilov's fiancee Katya never got married. She moved into Prokopych's hut and began to look after the old man. Katya decided to learn a craft so that she could earn money. When the old master died, the girl began to live alone in his house and sell malachite crafts. She found a wonderful stone at the Serpent Mine. And there was the entrance to the Copper Mountain. And one day she saw Malachite. Katya felt that Danila was alive. And she demanded the return of the groom. It turned out that Danila then ran to the sorceress. He could not live without miraculous beauty. But now Danila asked the Mistress to let him go. The sorceress agreed. Danila and Katya returned to the village and began to live happily ever after.

Moral of the tale

Children are very interested in reading Bazhov's tales. "Stone Flower" is a talented work. A mighty power (Mistress of the Copper Mountain) rewarded the gifted master and his faithful bride. The gossip of fellow villagers, gossip and malice did not interfere with their happiness. The writer recreated a real folk tradition. It has a place for good magic power and pure human feelings. The idea of the work is difficult for children's perception. It is difficult for a child to understand why and how beauty can take possession of the human heart.

But still, every schoolchild should be introduced to an author like Bazhov. "Stone Flower" - what does this book teach? The story has a moral. Kind, sincere and true to their ideals people, despite their mistakes, will be rewarded. This will be taken care of by the forces of nature, which our ancestors humanized in legends. Bazhov is the only famous writer of Soviet Russia who artistically processed the Ural legends. They are associated with mines, mines, combustible gases, the hard work of serfs, and wonderful jewels that can be extracted directly from the earth.

Danila's obsession

Bazhov writes about this. "Stone Flower", the main idea of which is devotion to the family and vocation, tells in simple and understandable language about the great human values. But what about the idea of the destructive power of beauty? Can students understand it? Perhaps Danila's obsessive thoughts about the stone flower are caused by the witchcraft of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain. But dissatisfaction with his own work appeared before meeting the sorceress.

An analysis of Bazhov's "Stone Flower" does not allow us to answer this question unambiguously. You can interpret the problem in different ways. Much will depend on the age of the child. It is better to focus on the positive qualities of the main characters. The pedagogical value of the work is very great. And the intricate plot, intrigue and the “to be continued” technique will help to attract the attention of the child.

Ural tales at one time received many positive reviews and positive feedback. "Stone Flower", Bazhov - these words should be familiar to every student.

P.P. Bazhov is a unique writer. After all, fame came to him at the end of his life, at the age of sixty. 1939 dates from his collection "Malachite Box". Recognition Pavel Petrovich Bazhov brought a unique author's processing of the Ural tales. This article is an attempt to write a summary for one of them. "Stone Flower" is a tale about the growing up and professional development of a phenomenal master in the processing of gems Danila.

The uniqueness of Bazhov's writing style

Pavel Bazhov, creating this masterpiece, as if untwisted the folklore of the Urals, having thoroughly studied it, and wove it anew, combining in it the harmony of a masterful literary presentation and the originality of the colorful dialects of an amazing land - a stone belt encircling Russia.

The harmony of the structure of the tale emphasizes its brief content - "The Stone Flower" is arranged by the author perfectly. There is nothing superfluous in it, artificially tightening the flow of the plot. But at the same time, the primordial dialect of the people inhabiting this land is surprisingly fully felt in it. The author's language of presentation by Pavel Petrovich is his creative find. How is the melodiousness and originality of Bazhov's writing style achieved? Firstly, most often he uses dialectisms in a diminutive form (“boy”, “tiddly”, “old man”). Secondly, he uses purely Uralic word-formation dialectisms in his speech (“finger-off”, “that's it”). Thirdly, the writer does not skimp on the use of proverbs and sayings.

Shepherd boy - Danilka Nedokormysh

In this article, dedicated to the most significant Bazhov tale, we offer readers a brief summary of it. "Stone Flower" introduces us to the best in the processing of malachite, an elderly craftsman Prokopyich, who is looking for a successor. One by one, he sends back the boys sent to him by the master "in science", until the twelve-year-old, "tall in the legs", curly, thin, blue-eyed "lad" Danilka Nedokormysh appears. He did not have the ability to become a palace servant, he could not “curl” around the owner. But he could “stay for a day” at the picture, but he was a “slow mover”. He was capable of creativity, as evidenced by the summary. "Stone Flower" tells that, while working as a shepherd, the teenager "learned to play the horn notably!" In its melody one could guess the sound of the stream, and the voices of the birds ...

Cruel punishment. Treatment at Vikhorikha

Yes, he once did not keep track of the game for the “cows”. He passed them “near Yelnichnaya”, where there was “the most wolf-like place”, and several cows were missing. As a punishment, the master's executioner, who had become brutalized from Danilka's silence under the whips, to the point of losing consciousness, buttoned him up, and his grandmother Vikhorikha came out. The kind grandmother knew all the herbs, and if she had had Danilushka longer, he might have become a herbalist, and Bazhov P.P. would have written differently. "Stone Flower".

The plot of the plot takes place precisely during the story of the old woman Vikhorikha. In her monologue one can see the author's fiction of the original Ural writer. And she tells Danila that in addition to open flowering plants, there are also closed, secret, witchcraft: thieves on Ivan's Day, opening constipation to those who see it, and a stone flower blooming near a malachite rock for a snake holiday. And the person who sees the second flower will become unhappy. Obviously then - the dream to see this unearthly beauty from the stone seized the guy.

To study - to Prokopich

The clerk noticed that Danila began to walk around, and although he was still rather weak, he gave him to Prokopych to study. He looked at the guy who was emaciated from illness and went to the landowner - to ask to be taken away. Krut was a Prokopyich in his sciences, he could even punch a good bream for negligence to an incompetent student. The masters really had it in practice then, and Bazhov P.P. ("Stone Flower") simply described how it was ... But the landowner was unshakable. To teach ... Prokopyich returned empty-handed to his workshop, lo and behold, Danilka was already there and, bending over, without blinking, was examining a piece of malachite, which he had begun to process. The master was surprised and asked what he noticed. And Danilka answers him that the cut was made incorrectly: in order to expose the unique pattern of this stone, it would be necessary to start processing from the other side ... The master made a noise, began to resent the upstart, the “brat” ... then he thought: “So, so ... You will be good, boy ...” The master woke up in the middle of the night, chopped off malachite, where the boy said, - unearthly beauty ... He marveled a lot: “Well, big-eyed one!”.

Prokopych's care for Danilka

The fact that Prokopyich fell in love with the unfortunate orphan, took him for his son, tells us the fairy tale "Stone Flower". Its summary tells us that he did not immediately accustom him to the craft. Hard work was beyond the power of Nedokormysh, and the chemicals used in the “stone craft” could well have knocked down his poor health. He gave me time to gain strength, directed the housework to be done, fed, dressed up ...

Once the clerk (they say in Rus' - "nettle seed") saw Danilka, whom the good master let go to the pond. The clerk noticed that the guy was getting stronger, that he was wearing new clothes ... He had questions ... Is the master deceiving him by taking Danilka for his son? But what about learning a craft? When will the benefits of his work be? And he went with Danilka to the workshop and began to ask sensible questions: both on the tool, and on materials, and on processing. Prokopyich was stunned ... After all, he did not teach the boy at all ...

The clerk is surprised at the skill of the guy

However, the summary of the story “The Stone Flower” tells us that Danilka answered everything, told everything, showed everything ... When the clerk left, Prokopyich, who had been speechless before, asked Danilka: “How do you know all this?” “I noticed,” the “boy” answers him. Even tears appeared in the eyes of the touched old man, he thought: “I will teach everything, I won’t hide anything ...” However, since then the clerk began to carry Danilka work on malachite: caskets, all kinds of plaques. Then - threaded things: "candlesticks", "leaves and petals" all sorts ... And how the guy made a snake from malachite for him, the master's clerk informed: "We have a master!"

The master appreciates artisans

The master decided to arrange an exam for Danilka. First, he ordered that Prokopyich not help him. And he wrote to his clerk: “Give him a workshop with a machine, but I will recognize him as a master if he grinds a bowl for me ...” Even Prokopyich did not know how to do this ... Have you heard the case ... Danilko thought for a long time: where to start. However, the clerk does not let up, he wants to curry favor with the landowner, - tells a very brief summary of the “Stone Flower”. But Danilka did not hide his talent, and he made a bowl, as if alive ... The greedy clerk forced Danilka to make three such products. He realized that Danilka could become a “gold mine”, and henceforth he was not going to spare him, he would have completely tortured him with work. Yes, but the gentleman turned out to be smart.

He, having checked the guy for skill, decided to create better conditions for him, so that he would work more interestingly. I overlaid a small quitrent, returned it to Prokopyich (it’s more convenient to create together). He also sent a complex drawing of a cunning bowl. And, without setting a deadline, he ordered it to be done (at least five years, let them think).

Path of the Master

The fairy tale "Stone Flower" is unusual and original. A brief summary of Bazhov's work, speaking in the oriental language, this is the path of the master. What is the difference between a master and an artisan? The craftsman sees the drawing and knows how to reproduce it in the material. And the master understands and represents beauty, and then reproduces it. So Danilka critically looked at that cup: there are many difficulties, but little beauty. He asked the clerk for permission to do it his own way. He thought about it, because the master asked for an exact copy ... And then he answered Danilka to make two bowls: a copy and his own.

Party for the manufacture of the master's bowl

He first made a flower according to the drawing: everything is accurate, verified. On this occasion, they made a party at home. Danilin's fiancee, Katya Latemina, came with her parents and a stone maker. Look, approve the cup. If we judge the fairy tale at this stage of its narrative, then everything seems to have worked out for Danilka both with her profession and with her personal life ... However, the summary of the book "Stone Flower" is just not about complacency, but about high professionalism, looking for new ways of expression talent.

Danilka does not like this kind of work, he wants the leaves and flowers on the bowl to be as if alive. With this thought between work, he disappeared in the fields, looked closely and, looking closely, planned his bowl as a dope bush. He withered away from such thoughts. And when the guests at the table heard his words about the beauty of the stone, Danilka was interrupted by an old, old grandfather, in the past - a mining master who taught Prokopyich. He told Danilka not to fool around, to work simpler, otherwise you can get into the mountain master of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain. They work for her and create things of extraordinary beauty.

When Danilka asked why they, these masters, were special, grandfather replied that they saw a stone flower and understood beauty ... These words sunk into the heart of the guy.

Datura bowl

He postponed his marriage because he began to meditate on the second bowl, conceived in a manner that imitates dope grass. Loving bride Katerina began to cry ...

What is the summary of "Stone Flower"? Perhaps it lies in the fact that the ways of high creativity are inscrutable. Here Danilka, for example, drew the motives of his crafts from nature. He wandered through the forests and meadows and found what inspired him, went down to the copper mine in Gumeshki. And he was looking for a piece of malachite, suitable for making a bowl.

And then one day, when the guy, having carefully studied the next stone, disappointedly stepped aside, he heard a voice advising to look elsewhere - near the Snake Hill. This advice was repeated twice to the master. And when Danila looked back, he saw the transparent, barely noticeable, fleeting outlines of some kind of woman.

The master went there the next day and saw “turned out malachite”. It was ideal for this one - and its color is darker downwards, and the streaks are in the right places. Immediately and earnestly set to work. Wonderfully he managed to finish the bottom of the bowl. It turned out to look like a natural dope bush. But when he sharpened a cup of a flower, the cup lost its beauty. Danilushko completely lost sleep here. "How to fix?" - thinks. Yes, he looked at Katyusha's tears and decided to get married!

Meeting with the Mistress of the Copper Mountain

They already planned a wedding - at the end of September, on that day the snakes are going for the winter ... Danilko just decided to go to the Snake Hill to see the Mistress of the Copper Mountain. Only she could help master the dope bowl. The meeting took place...

This fabulous woman spoke first. To know, she respected this master. She asked if the dope bowl came out? The guy confirmed. Then she advised him to continue to dare, to do something else. For her part, she promised help: he would find a stone according to his thoughts.

But Danila began to ask to show him a stone flower. The Mistress of Mednaya Mountain dissuaded him, explaining that although she does not hold anyone, but whoever sees him returns to her. However, the master persisted. And she took him to her stone garden, where both leaves and flowers are all made of stone. She brought Danila to a bush where wonderful bells grew.

Then the master asked the Mistress to give him a stone to make such bells, but the woman refused him, saying that she would have done so if Danila himself had invented them ... She said this, and the master turned out to be in the same place - on the Snake Hill.

Then Danila went to his bride at a party, but did not cheer. After seeing Katya home, he returned to Prokopych.
